Conclusion

When Anthony and Cindy first began this project and their research into the College of Arts and Sciences at Santa Clara University ten weeks ago, they envisioned a collection that would compare and contrast what the arts and sciences looked like in two specific academic school years, the 1973-74 and 2015-16 school years. But, as they conducted their research, found their artifacts, and discovered new information, they found that they couldn’t and didn’t want to do a collection comparing and contrasting the two academic school years. Instead, they simply wanted to take a quick look into these two years, into the College of Arts and Sciences, and specifically into the history and English departments to see what they could find. In the end, after their research was done and after all of their artifacts were chosen, they did just that.

Throughout this collection, Anthony and Cindy have been able to tell their story of the College of Arts and Sciences and they have been able to showcase the artifacts they have found to be most relevant to that story. The collection as a whole isn’t attempting to answer a specific question or clarify a rumor or misunderstanding. No. Instead this collection is meant to spark thought and conversation among those who view it. It is meant to build and grow from others who are interested in the College of Arts and Sciences. This collection is meant for everyone and anyone, those who go to Santa Clara University and those who don’t, those who are young and those who are old, those who are involved with the College of Arts and Sciences and those who aren’t, and whoever else wants to take a look at it.

When it comes to this collection, Anthony Hoyt and Cindy Stella hope that it continues to grow. In other words, the two researchers hope to inspire someone or a group of people to take an even closer look at this subject and to find new information, answer old questions, ask new questions, and make people think even more about the College of Arts and Sciences at Santa Clara University. The possibilities are endless for the future of this collection and this topic as a whole, and Anthony and Cindy are excited to see where that will go in the future.
